Oregon based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tiller of the Moon blends his midwestern indie roots with classic West-Coast folk stylings to create a catchy, modern sound that is equal parts folk, country, and indie rock. With a focus on melody and songcraft, Tiller of the Moon’s music will have you singing along to lyrics you will only later pause to contemplate the depths of.

Tim Bulster honed his songwriting style in the Chicago-based indie band Sails. Over the course of 5 years, he led the charge as Sails wrote, self-recorded, and self-released two full-length albums (On My Way Out, and Should’ve Stayed Home), and played voraciously across the city. When the band eventually broke up during the 2020 pandemic, Tim relocated to Coos Bay, Oregon and began writing and recording under the moniker Tiller of the Moon. During this time, Tim also walked away from his full time career as a public school English teacher in pursuit of what music had to offer.

It was in this spirit that Tiller of the Moon released their first full-length album entitled “Waiting Game” in early 2023. This album exploded Tiller of the Moon onto the local scene, and introduced Tim as more than just another coffee-shop songwriter. The album blended influences like Wilco, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan to create a fresh and catchy sound that only offers further depths with each new listen.

Tiller of the Moon’s music proves that catchy ear-worm melodies do not need to come at the expense of depth. Operating currently as a 4-piece band, Tiller of the Moon is composed of some of the best musicians on Oregon’s southern coast–  Tim Bulster on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jake Allegar on lead guitar, Eric Feliciano on bass, and Ben Horton on drums. Catch them at a live show, and you’re guaranteed to sing, to dance, and maybe even to briefly contemplate the intricacies of this life we’re all living.
